Saving money on events, special occasions, and casual get togethers have one thing in common: Planning! This doesn’t have to be daunting, I know it usually is, but it doesn’t have to be. Breaking it down into manageable parts and sticking to a budget are really the two pillars of planning.
Maybe you like planning events! Maybe it is your personal version of hell. Everyone has that aunt, cousin, or sibling who just loves to host the annual holiday party. Maybe that person is you! Perhaps you would rather drive three hours to attend a party rather than host one yourself. You may cringe every time it’s your turn to have the yearly family gathering. It doesn’t matter which category you fall into, all you need is a plan to get you through.
This is a safe space to find ways and ask for advice to plan events for people you love or…don’t. You can get help impressing your friends and family or shoving your well executed event down their judgmental throats (Haha, I’m kidding! your family and In-Laws are great). This is a place to be creative without going overboard with spending.
There are plenty of lifestyle gurus that have endless party planning ideas because they have an endless budget. This is not the place for them. All are welcome to offer their wisdom and knowledge, but if you have thousands of dollars to spend on entertaining, you’re going to be slumming it here.
I like to make events nice with special touches that are unexpected. I am excited to share with you the easy and inexpensive ways I have decorated for a school prom, a 30 plus person holiday party, the extended family Sunday dinner, and the casual parent gathering. These events are all very different with one thing in common: They were planned! There is only one important fact to remember, the golden rule of Penny Pinching Planning: Being Cheap takes Planning!
